Travel Vaccinations
Not all travel services are available on the NHS. If you are planning on travelling overseas and would like a full travel consultation we recommend that you book an appointment with a private travel clinic who will undertake a through assessment and advise on all aspects of health related to travel.
However, there are a small number of vaccinations recommended for travel to some parts of the world which can be administered on the NHS. These are polio (administered as the combined vaccination covering diphtheria, tetanus and polio); hepatitis A, typhoid and cholera. The practice is able to offer these vaccinations to our registered patients. In addition, we are able to provide catch up vaccinations for all vaccines on the routine NHS schedule (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/nhs-vaccinations-and-when-to-have-them/) if you are not up to date.
If you would like to request the travel vaccinations available on the NHS, please complete the travel form below and return it to the practice AT LEAST 8 WEEKS PRIOR TO TRAVEL. As we have to fit these vaccinations in around other clinical care of patients, if you do not give at least 8 weeks notice, we are unlikely to be able to accommodate your request before you travel, and will advise you to attend a private travel clinic instead.
Even if you obtain the NHS travel vaccines from the practice, it will still be your responsibility to read and follow the up to date travel advice for your destination(s) at https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/. This may advise that you should have other vaccinations (such as rabies, yellow fever, Japanese B encephalitis or tick borne encephalitis), or other medication such as malaria tablets, and will also include advice on other risks such as zika virus in your destination country, so it is important that you read the information carefully. If non-NHS vaccinations or medication are advised, the practice will not be able to assist with this, and you will need to book a private travel clinic appointment for these.
